The seven virtues (actually six, the seventh is lost), according to an iconography found in many painted chapels in the Maritime Alps, were facing the seven deadly sins, the famous “cavalcade of vices”, which has now disappeared.
Each one is identified by an inscription overhead or is recognisable by its attributes. Although it is not possible to be absolutely certain about some of the attributions since the text is lost, they are: Diligence, Abstinence, Temperance, Patience, Penitence and Generosity. The last one, destroyed when a niche was inserted in the wall, was perhaps Goodness, facing Envy.
